I  just wanted to provide you with some very positive and sincere (albeit belated) feedback on the Fulmarine Petrels DVD - it really is outstanding in all aspects!! I am delighted that you have felt passionate enough and able to pursue the making of this series and wait with keen anticipation for the next volume...Please do let me know when this becomes available for pre-order...

Mark Wessels, GBR
I sat down last night and watched it and read much of the booklet. I'd just like to say that I think both Ashley and yourself have done a very good job. The DVD and text complement each other very well and the video clips and narration are what you'd expect when on a pelagic. This type of guide complements the field guides and books like 'Petrels night and day' and I'm surprised this market niche hasn't been filled before.
Please let me know when the first of the Atlantic seabird volumes is out - I'll definitely be getting it.

“Full of information, this impressive achievement offers “real-life” encounters with petrels at sea, showing how different species fly in different conditions – something that still images simply can’t do.”

Even though the best seabird handbooks of today benefit heavily from magnificent details provided in high-quality pictures and exquisite drawings by skilled artists, static illustrations can never fully demonstrate the birds’ behaviour in flight or when engaged in other typical activities. This is particularly unfortunate because differences in such behaviour between otherwise similar species are among the most distinctive and useful characters for field identification. Producing species descriptions and identification guidance largely based on video recordings of live birds in their natural environment is therefore a very welcome step forward, especially when both footage and commentary hold such a high quality as in the first issue of Bob Flood and Ashley Fisher’s DVD series on pelagic seabirds. It provides easy access to an ocean of very useful information, including footage of behavioural characteristics that are otherwise unavailable in such an extensive format, and should be a must-have for everyone that takes a special interest in the life and identification of true seabirds.

Just received the DVD. Wow, what a project!! Superb footage, very good indeed! I'm eagerly waiting to see the storm-petrels volume (and the rest, for sure!).

Brett Richards, GBR
I think your DVD is great.  I’m amazed at how steady the footage is.  I can’t wait for the Pterodroma one.

I know Bob Flood and Ashley Fisher, having been involved with Bob and the New Zealand storm-petrel rediscovery since 2003...  Last year I did several sensational Isles of Scilly pelagics with them in August (Wilson's petrels!), and again caught up with them whilst up there working on the MV Island Sky in August 2010.  They have just produced an awesome DVD on the Fulmarine Petrels which is now available and well worth getting a copy of if you are a serious seabird enthusiast.I have just been watching my copy and there is some great footage on there.  It gives you a sense of being there, but more importantly shows the 'jizz' of the bird that you usually just don't get from a photo.  Seeing the footage of Snow petrels and Antarctic petrels is just whetting the appetite for my next trip down to the 'Ice' in December.  These guys have done a great job of outlining the group and I really look forward to their upcoming projects!  Keep up the great work guys.

...When the decks had cleared I did look at the disc and was very happy with what I saw, especially as I have never seen any of those birds.  Many congratulations. I would love to get to the Southern Ocean one day. Very much look forward to seeing the NE Pterodromas when they come out.

Fulmarine Petrels is a fantastic piece of detailed work on the identification and biology of these intriguing seabirds. Watch it to familiarize yourself with them, and watch it again to take in all the details!

I've just watched the DVD, from beginning to end, and congratulate you on a fine job. I look forward to more, as they are produced, particularly any footage of the gad-flys!

I thoroughly enjoyed your production and look forward to the next. The amount of work that was involved must have given you all sleepless nights! Well done!

I have just returned from the Subantarctic Islands from NZ to Macquarie Island ... Just before I left I did manage to view your DVD and I must congratulate you on an excellent and informative program and look forward to the rest of the series.

Robert Bollis, AUS
Well, I've watched it. Found it very informative, great information and to the point, good quality picture and I learnt a lot of what I didn't know about pelagic birds. Looking forward to the ones out next year!!

I´ve watched the video and my overall expression is good. It is interesting for me to see all those species in the southern hemisphere, which probably I will never be able to watch alive. Maps of distribution were great… The comparison of Pacific and Atlantic Fulmars was especially interesting as it is more than ever likely that Pacific birds can be seen in the WP. I am interested in movements and migration of birds that cross the big oceans and use both the south and north hemispheres as their playground and look forward to more DVDs from you. The picture quality is very good and commentary reasonable understandable even though English is not my native language.

All the best and keep up the good work!

I have just watched your DVD ‘Fulmarine Petrels’.  Really good.  It really took me back to my trips to the south Atlantic!
I represent the BTO in Northern Ireland and am running the regional birdwatchers conference … it occurs to me that it would nice to put this DVD on during the lunch break and let folk get a feel for the quality and usefulness of the DVD…

Leslie Etheridge, GBR
Received and watched yesterday. Brilliant, a super resource, thank you. If you are keeping a data base of customers I would appreciate an email when the next DVD is available for purchase. Best wishes, keep filming.

Chris Harbard, GBR
Just to say thank you so much. The DVD arrived safely and I have watched it. What a mammoth achievement. Well done!

Jeff Davies, AUS
Congratulations on the ‘Fulmarine Petrels’ DVD. Looking forward to picking up the rest of the series as it unfolds.
